Monthly Archives: January 2014

I’ll be hosting Amber’s blog tour on my blog starting next week, and in preparation for that, I had the opportunity to ask her a few questions about her writing and upcoming work. Lucinda- How did you start writing?   Amber- Unlike a lot of writers, I never wrote as a young child.  Nor did I […]

Four books due at once, working on the adoptions and kids to take care of? I’m exhausted just thinking about all you’re up to, Amber. Congrats on your success and good luck with your books and the adoptions.ReplyCancel

I joined this writers group on Facebook. It’s called “Insecure Writers Support Group”. There’s also a blog post with a blog hop (just click on the image). So, it’s pretty self-explanatory. A virtual place for sharing and encouraging, where writers can express their doubts and concerns. So I’m supposed to talk about fears ans struggles, […]

Welcome to IWSG! It’s a great community.

Struggling with fears is all part of being a writer. And being afraid you won’t do anything with what you write is not only common, it’s a very real threat. I’m glad you’re determined to conquer it.

I’m going through a similar struggle right now, but I’m also determined that this is the year I’m going to get back into submitting my work. If you’d like to be query buddies, let me know!ReplyCancel

    • LucindaJanuary 8, 2014 - 2:22 PM

Thank you, Holli! And good luck with your submissions!ReplyCancel

I love that message! Welcome to the IWSG. It’s certainly the place where you can dump your fears and find lots of support from other writers. 🙂 I think the main thing to hold onto is your love of writing. Don’t let anything else overshadow it. (and I’ll keep struggling to take my own advice)

I’m with you on not being able to stop! Writing really is a ‘thing’ for me. Always has been and I imagine it always will be 🙂

Glad to see another newby on the IWSG scene!ReplyCancel

Awesome. I’ve pretty much found there’s an audience for anything out there under the sun, which means, write what you love and find the like-minded. =) Here’s to pressing forward and not letting anything stop you!ReplyCancel

It’s true, Crystal, I believe there are readers for all genres! Here’s to finding them!ReplyCancel

Love the note to self. Welcome to IWSG. I haven’t been with them long but long enough to know it’s a great group. Best wishes on getting back together with Faith. 🙂ReplyCancel

I especially loved the note to your fears. That was great!

I saw that image on Facebook a couple times the other day. You can do it too. Beat those fears and write amazing books. =)ReplyCancel

Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful, encouraging post. You can’t imagine how this speaks to me. We’re having five days of prayer at our church and I was praying about my fear the other night. Doubt and fear rule me most of the time. Welcome to IWSG. I’m looking forward to reading more from you.ReplyCancel

I LOVE that. It actually made me tear up. We really do need to kick fear out and invite faith back in. Thanks for the reminder!ReplyCancel

    Hi Lucinda!
Great attitude! Let Faith take the place of Fear – a step at a time… and I’m sure it won’t be easy… but you are not alone, you have the support of a wonderful group like the IWSG! Welcome aboard!ReplyCancel

One fear at time…and trying…its all we can do!
    Welcome to IWSG 🙂ReplyCancel

Lucinda – Everything you said resonates with me. It is so easy to question ourselves and what we want. Fear of not doing is what makes us overcome the others.

I hope you addressed that letter to Fear correctly. : ) Leanne ( )ReplyCancel

Well said. Fear is a paralyzing emotion. A fixation on the future and you don’t want to happen that could. Every moment that we live in the present we are primed to make progress and reach our goals. It’s an important concept to keep in the forefront of our minds, and can helps us really feel the success we are desiring. ReplyCancel

It’s funny, but I didn’t know I wanted to be a writer until about five years ago. Now it’s all I think about. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’ll be any good at it. 🙂

    Glad you joined the IWSG.ReplyCancel

    Hi Lucinda!

Welcome to the IWSG! Glad to have you 🙂 This is a wonderful post. Fear is our worst enemy. It’s frightening to step out into the unknown and conquer those fears that hold you back. But worse than that is to never try and wonder for the rest of your life what might have happened if you’d just taken that first step! Best of luck to you in conquering your fears and adding “The End” to your book this year! Joining the IWSG is one positive step towards doing both!

I love how you said this: “Even on the hardest day, I try to remind myself how amazing it is that simple words can give voice to characters and their stories.” That’s why I keep writing too despite the insecurities of my writing not being good enough, fears it’ll never be read, etc.ReplyCancel

Sounds like the right note to start the year on, Lucinda. Fear can paralyze us, if we’re not careful.ReplyCancel
